S ymons & Clark Transport Pty Ltd traces it's history back to 1875 when Thomas Symons arrived from Cornwall and set up his blacksmith business in Rosewater.

In 1916 Thomas and his son George started the carrying business as Thomas Symons & Sons Carriers. They carted grain, timber and flour around the Port Adelaide district. Later, another son Jack, purchased the business from Thomas' estate. He moved the business to Lipson St and changed it's name to JT Symons Carriers. The business continued in that name under Jack, and subsequently his daughter Jan, until 1 November 1981.

On that date Alby Clark purchased the business and changed it's name to todays Symons & Clark Transport Pty Ltd. It had Alby, 7 drivers, 1 secretary and a timber yard supervisor. It remained in Lipson St until 1992 when it moved to the current address in Francis St, Port Adelaide.

S ymons & Clark Transport Pty Ltd areas of expertise include general transport, over-dimensional transport, heavy haulage to 85 tonne, container transport, container refurbishment, container preparation, container storage, packing containers for export, unpacking import containers and storage facilities of varying types.

Operations are conducted from a 28 acre depot conveniently located close to South Australia's shipping and rail transport hubs. The Outer Harbor container shipping terminal is just 10 km's away whilst general shipping berths are within 1 km. Two major road/rail intermodal terminals are within 10 km's.

The company employs 80 people including Alby and his sons Ricky and David and puts a fleet of 40 trucks on the road each day.
